There is always someone who will do it cheaper, that’s often what people say, right? Despite how much searching and research you do, there will always be someone who finds the same thing but for a better price.
At OSV, we know that we aren’t the cheapest vehicle broker. This is a fact that we do not try to hide. We do promise that we are going to try and find the best deal for you, but sometimes this doesn’t always mean the cheapest deal.
Because we believe that sometimes, the cheapest deal is not always the best deal.
And in this article, we are going to try and explain why we believe that, and why OSV aren’t the cheapest broker.
We offer a service
Quality service is at the forefront of OSV, and is the principle in which the company was founded back in 1997.
And we are proud to say that we have not compromised on our values to simply get the cheapest deal. When our customers come to OSV, they get a quality service that ensures they are given the best deal for them. We have had customers come to us after bad experiences with other vehicle brokers, and even though they have offered them a cheap deal, they have chosen not to use that service again.
When you choose to get your vehicle, or vehicles through OSV, you are assigned a dedicated Account Manager. This Account Manager is a Specialised Automotive Finance (SAF) expert. This means that they will be giving you accurate and up to date knowledge of all finance schemes available to you. This accreditation requires a test being taken every 12 months to ensure that their knowledge is up to date. Your Account Manager will go through your requirements and find you the best vehicle for those requirements. Once you have chosen and ordered your vehicle, you will then be passed to our finance team. This is a separate team dedicated to ensuring that all your paperwork is ready and signed in the right places before your car is delivered to your door. Once you have delivery of your car, we don’t leave you until your car is due to go back. Your Account Manager is your Account Manager for the duration of your contract. This means that if you have any questions or anything goes wrong, you can contact them and they will be more than happy to help you. We go into more detail about the OSV process below.
This is unlike some companies, who don’t have a dedicated finance team and who won’t have someone at the end of the phone should you need them in a few months time.
This service does, as you can understand, comes at a price. This is why we might not be cheaper than the broker that doesn’t have multiple teams dedicated to making your vehicle journey as smooth as possible.
Value vs. Cost
Another thing that we have to talk about is Value vs. Cost, something of which is common in every buyer/vendor situation.
For us to truly provide value to you, we might not be able to do it at the lowest price. That said, both the buyer (you) and the vendor (us) have to define what that value is.
To us, good value is getting a vehicle that;
- Has the right mileage
- Takes into account the right initial payment
- Is for the right length of time for you
- Is the right contract for you
- Including taking into account what you might want to do at the end of the contract
- Has the specification you want and is tailored to your needs
- Is genuinely right for you and your needs
We also define good value as having a dedicated Account Manager and a separate Finance and Customer Service team to ensure that there is someone at the end of the phone for the duration of your contract.
This definition of good value must align with the cost. And it should be the expectation of the buyer that this cost will align with the value.
For example, if you see something that is extremely low cost, then you might not be receiving the same treatment you would if you were to pay slightly more.
Recalling one experience, a customer was quoted by OSV and then they went away and chose a different broker, purely based on price. They then returned to OSV after discovering that, despite the lower cost, the value for money was simply not there. There have also been cases in which customers have gone through the cheapest vehicle broker they can find, only for something to go wrong and for them to have no one at the end of the phone when they needed.
At OSV, our customers recognise the link between cost and value, and understand that when you go through OSV you might be paying slightly more but you are doing so because you are getting the best value for your money.
Why aren’t OSV the cheapest vehicle broker?
To conclude, OSV aren’t the cheapest vehicle broker because we provide a service, and offer exceptional value. Therefore, that exceptional value has to be reflected in the cost.
There have been occasions where people have gone through cheaper vehicle brokers but have found that they do not offer the service they need. Often they are too focused on cost and as a result, have not provided them with the vehicle they need or the required mileage or the right initial payment. This is not good value.
At OSV, however, we ensure that we know exactly what you want before we even consider quotes. We then make sure that the quotes we give you tick all the boxes, and sometimes that means you have to sacrifice price.
We value service over anything else, and the fact that we have customers that come back to us over several years proves that customers also value service over everything else.
The OSV Process
Now we’ve explained why OSV aren’t always the cheapest leasing broker on the market, let’s have a look at the OSV process, to hopefully give you an idea of how we put value over cost.
The first call
Your first call with OSV will be the most important call. We recommend putting around 10-20 minutes aside for your first call to ensure that your Vehicle Specialist can get to know as much as possible about you and your current situation. You will be asked about what you are currently driving and what research you have done so far. They will also ask you what contract you are looking at and whether you are going to go through your business or privately.
It is also during this first call that you will be asked about your budget. However, this will only be after you discuss what you are looking for. While you may be reluctant to give your budget away at such an early stage, it is vital that we know your budget at this point. Otherwise, our Vehicle Specialists could go away and negotiate deals that are not good for you at all budget wise. And this is not what OSV are about.[vc_single_image image=”60765″ img_size=”article-image”]Once they know all of this information, they will bid you goodbye and get to work.
Presenting you with your options
Your Vehicle Specialist will contact you after doing their own research and negotiating. They will present you with their options, and they also might send you a few reviews and articles to educate you on the vehicle and what leasing option you are looking at.
Once you choose which agreement you want, you’re ready to order your vehicle. We will then send you an order form and a finance application from. You will fill these out and send them back to us so we can order your vehicle.
The documents process
It is at this point that you will be passed to our finance team. However, if you do have any queries or worries at any point during your contract, your Vehicle Specialist will be happy to answer them. They are still your Account Manager and will be until you choose not to do your business with OSV anymore (or if you do they will be your Account Manager forever, which is a nice thought).
Anyway, the finance team will go through your documents with you. If you are unsure about any of the documents then you can ring them and they can pull the documents up on their computer and talk you through them.
The portal
Once your vehicle is ordered, you will be given access to our portal. This is online, and is exclusive to OSV customers.
It is here that you can check the status of your order. While some companies will keep you in the dark while your car is going through the process of being ordered and built, OSV like to keep you updated every step of the way.
We request updates for every vehicle we have on order every Monday. We will then update the portal accordingly. You will get an email notifying you that the status of your vehicle has been updated.
Taking delivery of your vehicle
When your vehicle is ready to be delivered, we will contact you and arrange a delivery date and time. Your vehicle can be delivered either to your house or your workplace and is completely free of charge.
Follow up call
You will then receive a phone call from one of our customer service team to ensure that you are happy with your vehicle and that you don’t have any questions or queries. If you do, then they will be happy to help.
We will be available at all times during your contract, so if you have any queries at any point, even the day before your vehicle is due to go back, we will be happy to help.
Hopefully that has cleared a few things up about why OSV are not the cheapest vehicle broker out there. We put customer service at the forefront of our business, and have three separate teams to ensure that your vehicle journey is the best it can be. And that dedication can often come at a price, which means that sometimes we are not as cheap as other vehicle brokers who do not have the customer service process in place.
